Sugary snacks and drinks can damage teeth but there are a number of other foods and drinks that can be equally as harmful. Surprisingly enough, fruit and fruit juice can cause a number of dental issues.
An apple a day may keep the doctor away but too much citrus fruit will not please the dentist. Citrus fruits contain sugar and acids which break down and can lead to:-
– Eroded tooth enamel
– Tooth decay
Fresh fruit and fruit drinks should be consumed with meals “and (you should) rinse with water afterward” to remove the sugar and acids from the teeth.
