Who's who at Ripley Dental Practice?
Dr Philip Boamah
Philip qualified from Cardiff University in 2001 with a distinction in clinical dentistry. After his vocational training year Philip gained 2 years further surgical training as a Senior House Officer in prestigious Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Departments, where he further developed his surgical and medical skills and later gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons (MFDS). In 2004 he started work in General Dental Practice in London, and soon developed a particular interest in advanced implant and restorative dentistry. In 2007, Dr Boamah was accepted onto the highly acclaimed Royal College of Surgeons Implant Diploma Course, which he is close to completing. Philip will always give the very best he can to every patient, and treatments are carried out in a very relaxed, caring and professional manner. In his spare time Philip enjoys football, squash and eating well.
Dr Chirag Amin
Chig was born in London and qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 2001. He is an experienced general practitioner with passion for his dentistry, which results in him providing dentistry of the highest calibre. Chig provides all aspects of dentistry, and has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and implant surgery, for which he has continued postgraduate training in this field. Chig believes strongly in continued professional development, and has completed the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has completed a highly regarded Surgical Implantology course at the Tatum Institute. He has been taught directly by Professor Hilt Tatum, who has pioneered dental implants over the last forty years. Chig is married and outside of work he enjoys cricket, football and travelling the world.
Kerstin Peterson
Kerstin Petersen is a specialist orthodontist, with ten years experience in orthodontics. In 1993 Kerstin qualified in dentistry from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and worked as a general dentist in practice. She started her orthodontic postgraduate training in 1999 in a specialist practice in Germany followed by a year as honorary specialist registrar at King’s College in London. After receiving her qualification as a specialist in orthodontics from the Dental Chamber of North Rhine (Germany) in 2004, Kerstin decided to stay in England.
In her career, Kerstin regularly takes part in professional courses and conferences to update her skills, amongst others lingual technique and aligner systems. She is a certified clinician for Incognito© (lingual braces) and Invisalign©. Beyond she has vast experience in removable appliances and fixed buccal appliances including self-ligating bracket systems (Damon, Speed, and Clarity SL). She is registered on the specialist list of the General Dental Council and is a member of the British Orthodontic Society (BOS), American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) and the German Orthodontic Society (DGKFO).
Kerstin is a cosmopolitan person who speaks fluent German, English and Spanish. Since 2002 she has lived in the UK. She likes archery, travelling and cooking.
Ioannis Ioannidis
Ioannis Ioannidis graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2003. He moved to the UK where he obtained his MSc in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and MSc in Orthodontics from the Dental School of The University of Manchester. He also gained his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is on the GDC Specialist List for Orthodontics.
He states that giving his patients a reason to smile with confidence is what makes him happy. He always pay attention to every little detail to ensure a very high standard of orthodontic services for his patients and strongly believes that building a good relationship with them is a key for success. He likes to create a perfect smile for younger and older patients using contemporary, forward thinking orthodontics. He focuses on all modern techniques such as Invisalign, lingual orthodontics, self-ligation appliances and use of mini implants and always tries to match the available choices to the needs of his patients.
In his free time he has a passion for photography, and also likes swimming to relax after a tiring day.
Dr Victoria Luckham
Victoria has been a Dental Practitioner at Ripley Dental Practice for the past seven years. Born in Guildford and educated at local comprehensive, George Abbot, Victoria went on to gain a place at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Dental institute London in 1997 where she graduated in Dentistry, with distinction, in 2002. Victoria’s passion for dentistry is noticeable and stems from an early age. Her father has run his own Practice in a nearby village spanning four decades. Victoria returned to Guildford in 2002, married in 2003 and is now firmly settled in the area. True to her family roots and enthusiasm for the profession, Victoria is about to embark on a post graduate degree at the renowned Eastman Dental Institute in London. Victoria is highly valued member of the Ripley team who enjoys all aspects of the job. Known for attention to detail, her keenness to fully explain every step of the treatment plan helps put her patient’s mind at ease.
Dr Rasa Liubomirskaite
Rasa qualified in 2005 from the Kaunas University of Medicine. She undertook vocational training in a fully private practice in Vilnius, the capital of the Lithuania and has worked in the UK since 2006. She has passed part I of the MJDF examination of the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) and is currently working towards passing the second half of her postgraduate exam. Rasa is interested in all aspects of general dentistry with particular interest in aesthetic dentistry, deep bleaching, special ceramic crowns/veneers, clear braces and facial aesthetics, and she would now very much like to develop her skills in implant dentistry. Rasa aims for the practice is to give excellent dental care ensuring each individual patient is valued and respected and that the practice helps patients to keep their teeth for life! Rasa is more than happy to offer later/earlier or Saturday appointments for a busy commuter.
Dr Marie Allen
Marie qualified as a dentist from University College Hospital Dental School in London in 1975, ( B.D.S. Lond, L.D.S.R.C.S. Eng). She came to Britain from Sri Lanka in 1963 and is married with two grown up children. Marie has more than twenty years of experience working both in the Community Dental Services and General Dental Practice in London where she lives.She has been working in Ripley Dental Practice since 2003. Marie carries out a range of both NHS and Private treatments with a special interest in crown and bridgework, aesthetic dentistry and children's dentistry.She is patient and understanding and, like all her colleagues at Ripley Dental Practice, is committed to delivering the highest possible standards of patient care. Her outside interests are art and architecture and this lead her to taking a degree, ( B.A.Hons. Fine-Art), at Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London in 1995.
Dr Jackie Sowerbutts
Jackie qualified at UCH in 1974 with Honours. She is one of the founding members of Ripley Dental Practice which was established in 1982. Jackie’s clinical interests cover good basic dental practice, teaching and the handling of nervous patients. Jackie has a limited clinical presence at the practice in Ripley as she is also one of Surrey PCT's Dental Advisers and is an expert on standards and performance. She is currently involved in implementing the new higher standards for infection control within dental practices across Surrey. Jackie is also a member of the Local Dental Committee, Chair of the West Surrey BDA section and a member of the Faculty of General Dental Practice.
Dr Shiv Radia
Dr Radia is our newest member of the team having joined us in 2009. He has graduated from King’s College London Dental Institute and has a keen interest in Restorative dentistry and Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy). He is planning on expanding his education with postgraduate training starting with the MJDF qualification in March in order to provide the highest level of care for his patients. Shiv is a valued member of the team with his friendly and enthusiastic personality putting all his patients at ease! When not at work he enjoys playing football on a weekly basis and loves travelling.
Kim Bainbridge
Kim is from Northern Ireland and trained as a dental hygienist in Edinburgh. On qualification she worked in general practice in Manchester, before returning to Belfast where she worked part time in sales for Oral B, as well as being a community hygienist specialising in treating patients with special needs. This proved to be a very rewarding experience, in particular working with the amazing children from Fleming Fulton School. After moving to Surrey and starting a family Kim returned part time to dental hygiene. She has two daughters that keep her very busy and has a keen interest in health and fitness.
Kerry Sayers
Kerry is a GDC registered dental nurse and has worked at Ripley Dental Practice for nearly six years. Kerry is always polite and helpful to all patients and willing to help all staff members in any way she can. With excellent knowledge in orthodontics and general dentistry she is always ready to assist patients with any queries they may have. In her spare time Kerry enjoys going to the theatre, shopping and curling up with a good book.
Dasha Kuldova
Dasha is a qualified dental nurse and is also the practice implant nurse. Back home in the Czech Republic Dasha is also qualified as a general medical nurse. Dasha is always willing and able to help any member of staff and does so with a smile. Dasha enjoys travelling, she has lived in Ireland and the USA before coming here to the UK. Dasha is married and has two dogs which are her two babies. She enjoys reading and country walks.
Natalie Chojnacka
Natalie is going to be a qualified dental nurse very soon as she is undertaking her final exams in Oral health in December 2009. As a trainee dental Nurse she has achieved a broad spectrum of knowledge and practical skills in cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers including teeth whitening. She is an extremely bubbly character and a dedicated nurse. Her future goals are to gain the Dental Therapy and Hygiene Diploma and a Second Degree in Forensic Psychology. Her hobbies include riding her Honda CBR 600 and she is a dangerous cats enthusiast.
Laura Chapman
Laura is the senior Dental receptionist of Ripley Dental Practice and has worked here for nearly three years. With her big smile and sunny disposition she gives all a friendly welcome, puts all patients at ease and can answer all questions you may have. In her spare time Laura enjoys trips to the theatre, shopping and fine wine and dining. Laura is currently very busy planning her wedding for next year.
Tricia
Tricia joined our team of friendly receptionist in February 2010. With her friendly personality and previous experience of dental reception she has fitted in perfectly. Tricia is a family person who loves spending time with her little grandson. She also enjoys gardening, reading and socialising with friends.
